Making Barbie Hula Dress
Making a dress for Barbie is always fun, not only for the little girl you make for but also for you as a hobby.
I'll share my Barbie Hula Dress I've made for my five years old girl. OK Let's get started!
Prepare these things :
1 rol of plastic rope (raffia)
1 long needle
1 rol thread of the same color
1 little piece colorful fabric (11/2 inch x 6 inch) and (1/2 inch x 40 inch or longer)
1 flower wire
glue
1/2 inch sew-on velcro
baking paper or other thin paper
sewing machine
1 flower wire
glue
1/2 inch sew-on velcro
baking paper or other thin paper
sewing machine
Measure Barbie Doll hip |
Draw Barbie hips width plus velcro width |
Measure hula skirt length |
Roll the raffia on the cardboard |
3. Cut a 4 inch wide cardboard
4. Roll raffia (plastic rope) on the cardboard, make 25 to 30 loops
cut the raffia just on one side |
sew the raffia on the paper |
6. Put the paper you drew to base the raffia on the sewing machine, so it won't flip into your sewing machine.
7. Sew the raffia on their middle length (you have marked it) one at a time and put them overlap one another until it reach the final mark your drew. It's better if you sew them twice so you'll get a secure stitching.
tear the raffia with long needle |
fold the raffia on the middle |
sew them together and add velcro |
10. Your Barbie Hula Skirt is ready.
Barbie Hula Upper Dress

1. Cut 1/2 inch (or less) x 40 inch long colorful fabric. Sew a basting stitch (longest straight stitch on your machine) on its middle.
2. Cut the fabric on both side of your stitching, be careful, don't cut the thread.
3. Pull the bottom thread to gather.
4. Fit to your Barbie's neck, cut the excess fabric as you think its lovely.
5. Flip and hand sewing the fabric edges to secure the stitching and joint them to make a necklace.
6. Put it on your Barbie, isn't she beautiful?
Hair Flower Tiara
1. Take the flower wire, round it on your Barbie head, twist the wire to fit.
2. Put the excess fabric that you have sewn. Glue it around the wire.
3. Cut the excess fabric.
4. Done!
